We run a CCTV camera down the line from a suitable access point — gully, IO, manhole — and record the survey. The recording is delivered with a written summary, locations of any defects (depth, distance from access), and recommendations. Worth doing on any house over 30 years old where the drains haven't been investigated, or before buying a property with known drainage history.
